John Townsend

The management and staff of Community Mortuary takes this time to offer our most sincere condolences as we announce the transition of John Townsend, 70 of Homerville, Ga on May 24, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Townsend was born July 23, 1952 in Buena Vista (Marion County), Georgia to the late John Wesely Townsend, Sr. and the late Lizzie Mae White. John attended high school in Adel, Georgia and later moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina where he was a semi-truck driver for many years, faithfully working until he moved to Homerville, Georgia. Later in life he met and married his bride and love of his life, Priscilla Lee Gant, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Lee Townsend, Frank Hadley, Jr., James Andrew Hadley, Johnnie Lee Townsend, and Dr. John Wesely Townsend.

John leaves to cherish his memory two sons that he helped raise: Dennis Gant and Phillip Gant; his sisters Corine (Edwin) Young of Homestead, Florida; Mary Ann Hadley of Lenox, Georgia; Mary Townsend (Arty) Rose of Murray York, Pennsylvania; Andrea Perry of Douglas, Georgia; brothers, Leroy (Toni) Townsend of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Lamar (Tracey) Hadley of Lenox, Georgia, Jerry (Erica) Hadley of Valdosta, Georgia; an uncle, Patry Lee White of Homerville, Georgia; a special niece, Heavenly Edmonds; special cousins, Essie, Neely, Cathy, and Joan Brown. A host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
